To See the Bees

Life moves so quickly and it is easy to get swept up in the rush of it. It’s as if we’re all running towards some unseen goal, pushed on by the intensity of the people behind us and the fear of losing the people ahead of us. But then something catches your eye and you slow and turn. You stop. You start shoving your way through the crowd, trying to get to the edge.

Suddenly, you’re out, and there’s sun. The day is warm and bright and full of life. You can see bees milling around flowers. You had forgotten this exists. You turn and look behind you at all the people packed in together, running towards the unknown. They cut a path through the forest and over the horizon. It’s endless. No one notices you. No one looks your way. They just march off into the future. You watch and you wonder...is this really what I want with my life? For the first time, you stand still and just exist. You feel the warmth of the sun, you listen to the birds, and you watch the clouds. You’re happier than you ever were in the overwhelming confines of the pack with the rush of the world paused in wonder at the bees.
